Australian Black Opal Fossil

Because Opals form in cavities within rocks, if the cavity is there because part of a living thing – for example that a bone, tooth, shell or pinecone was buried in the ground (clay or sand) before it turned to stone, then the opal can form a fossil replica of the object that was buried, creating what we call an Opalised fossil. They are made entirely of opal.

Opal fossils or Opalised fossils rare pieces from our past and highly sought after. They generally don’t last long for sale so enjoy these while you can!
